These steps are typically used for copying an announcement to multiple courses, such as when doing Course Evaluations with a Qualtrics survey link and needing to copy that announcement into a list of live courses. This is a Brightspace Administrator task.
Step 1 – Create your Announcement in a Blank Course Shell
Do not put anything else in the course shell and be sure there aren’t any other announcements in the shell because those will also copy over.
Make sure your announcement contains Start and End Dates for when the announcement should appear and disappear from student view.
Step 2 – Create a csv file with the course IDs
The csv file must be in the following format (you do not need column headers)
Source OrgUnit | New Course Name | New Course Code | Course Template Code |
This is the “course offering code” of the course that houses the 1 announcement link. It will be the same ID all the way down | This can be left blank | 1 row for each course ID that should receive the announcement/survey link | This can be left blank |

Step 3 – Set the “Bulk Tool Configuration” setting for “Copy Course Bulk” to Announcements Only
Only users with ‘Super Admin’ role can change this setting:
1. Go to Admin Settings > Bulk Tool Configuration
2. Click on ‘Copy Course Bulk’ tab
3. Clear all the checks except “Announcements” and click save and close
Step 4 – Upload csv file to the Bulk Course Copy (CCB) course
Only users with “Administrator” roles can do this:
1. Search for the course named “Bulk Course Copy (CCB)”
2. Click on Manage Files
3. Click on Inbox
4. Click Upload
5. Upload the csv file and click Save
The process runs over night. The next day you should see the Announcement in all the courses it was copied into per the csv file.
The following day, check a couple courses to ensure the Announcement is there. Note: if the announcement is scheduled in the future and not for the day the process runs, check the announcement tool to see the pending announcement.
