Highlights

Zoom – New Features and Settings

There are some exciting new features and settings from Zoom that can enhance you and your student’s experience.

  • Enable Live Transcription – Enable the auto-transcription option that automatically provides captions during your class in real-time. This is incredibly helpful for students who may be unable to hear clearly or who may be in a loud environment. To use this feature, enable the setting in your CCC Zoom account and then enable it during class using the CC Live Transcript setting.
  • New (optional) Authentication option – A new optional authentication setting is available which, if enabled, will require users to be signed into their CCC Zoom account before being able to join your meeting. If you select “require authentication to join” you can now also select “CCC Users” as the authentication option.
  • For the best experience with Zoom, make sure you and your students are logged into the Zoom application before launching meetings.

Reminder: Zoom Cloud Recordings will be deleted 30 days after the term ends.

Zoom Cloud Recording is not a long-term recording storage solution. If you record your class sessions or other zoom meetings using “record to the cloud”, please note that those recordings will be deleted automatically 30 days after the term ends. If you need to maintain any of your cloud recordings, please download those recordings in a timely manner to avoid losing them.

Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor Updates

There is now an additional option for remote proctoring. The new Instructor Live Proctoring option enables instructors to use a video conferencing system (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet) for live, remote testing. LockDown Browser prevents cheating on the computer or device itself, while the instructor watches students via video conferencing. This mode of testing is recommended for small, synchronous classes where instructors can effectively manage and observe students during the exam.
